Job Description

We are seeking a Python Developer to support a mission-critical federal program responsible for protecting national security and supporting critical operations established in response to the events of 9/11.

This position is ideal for a software developer who enjoys building and enhancing existing applications while gaining hands-on experience with DevOps practices, cloud technologies, and CI/CD automation. The team is looking for someone who is passionate about development but interested in growing into a DevOps or cloud engineering role over time.

Responsibilities Enhance, maintain, and support existing custom applications and services. Develop scalable solutions using Python, Node.js, Java, and Bash. Collaborate with engineers, architects, and operations teams in an Agile environment. Troubleshoot and resolve software defects, performance issues, and production incidents. Contribute to application modernization and automation initiatives. Support and improve CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, integration, and deployment. Assist with cloud-based deployments and infrastructure automation efforts. Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and documentation activities. Help improve system reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.

Skills and Requirements

3+ years of software development experience. Strong experience with Python development. Experience with at least one additional language such as Node.js, Java, or Bash. Experience developing and supporting applications in Linux-based environments. Familiarity with source control tools such as Git. Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

PREFERRED Experience working with CI/CD tools and pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.). Exposure to DevOps principles, automation, and Infrastructure as Code. Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker. Knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly AWS. Experience supporting mission-critical or high-availability environments. Interest in growing into a DevOps, Cloud, or Platform Engineering career path. AWS certifications or hands-on AWS experience. Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, or infrastructure automation tools. Previous support of federal government or national security programs.
