Job Title: Electronics Service Technician Job Description

The Electronics Service Technician maintains, repairs, and upgrades advanced robotic systems, with a strong focus on electronic diagnostics and technical support. This role relies on hands-on experience and sound judgment to complete complex tasks, support field technicians remotely, and ensure all robotic assemblies operate safely and reliably. You will work closely with production and quality control teams, perform detailed data entry related to service activities, and uphold a clean, organized work area at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and upgrades on robotic systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to maintain, test, and troubleshoot electronic systems and components returned from the field.

  • Provide full technical support to field technicians via email and phone, assisting with troubleshooting and repair of robots in the field.

  • Work collaboratively with Production and Quality Control teams to build, service, and test assemblies and complete robots.

  • Accurately enter data related to all service and repair work performed, maintaining clear and complete records.

  • Read and follow written instructions, schematics, and blueprints to assemble, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electronic components.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times to support efficient and high-quality work.

  • Demonstrate professionalism and strong customer service skills when communicating with customers and field technicians over the phone.

  • Apply experience and sound judgment to complete complex technical tasks and accomplish service and production goals.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience with electrical and electronic components and equipment, including use of a voltmeter.

  • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills for electronic systems and mechanical assemblies.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and written instructions.

  • Mechanical aptitude and experience with assembly of electro-mechanical systems.

  • Proficiency with basic computer applications and systems (computer savvy).

  • High attention to detail in diagnostics, repair work, and documentation.

  • Professional communication and customer service skills for over-the-phone troubleshooting and support.

  • Demonstrated reliability and good tenure, with a desire for long-term employment.

  • Ability to rely on experience and judgment to complete complex tasks and meet goals.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Trade school certificate in a related field or at least 2 years of manufacturing experience.

  • Comfort working with diagnostic tools and test equipment for electronic systems.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with production and quality control teams.

Work Environment

This is a hands-on technical role in a manufacturing and service environment working with robotic systems, electronic components, mechanical assemblies, and diagnostic equipment such as voltmeters. Training is provided on a day shift for approximately 90 days (8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.), after which you transition to a structured schedule. One schedule option includes working Monday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off. Another schedule option includes working on-site from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. four days per week and remotely from home on Fridays from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with weekends off. The environment emphasizes cleanliness and organization in the work area, consistent procedures, and close coordination with production and quality control teams.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
