Summary

Positions to be filled are in various organizations at Langley Research Center.

Duties

  • Provide technical guidance and direction to engineering technicians and mechanics, serving as the overall technical authority for assigned platforms and systems.
  • Lead and coordinate team activities by assigning, distributing, and balancing workloads among employees to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Consult with project managers and engineers to obtain information on planned operational objectives, including schedules, configuration changes, and other requirements necessary to prepare platforms, systems, and/or equipment for operation.
  • Serve as liaison between the team and management, representing the team in meetings to obtain resources, information, and decisions.
  • Manage data and documentation related to maintenance, modifications, inspections, and flight or operational activities, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and a safe working environment for all operations.
  • Develop inspection procedures and techniques to meet the requirements of new or modified equipment or systems, and recommend improvements.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. GS-13: To qualify for the GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service Providing technical oversight of maintenance, operations, and ground support activities in coordination with engineers, support staff, and/or external partners; Coordinating multi-functional team activities through problem-solving and planning strategies; and supporting safety and mission assurance on complex or modified platforms or systems; and Providing recommendations to resolve issues identified during inspections or operations. These competencies will be assessed using technical assessments.
