The Fab IT Manager is more than an IT operations leader—they are the technology leader for the factory , responsible for making Smart Manufacturing a competitive advantage. By combining deep manufacturing knowledge with modern automation, robotics, AI, and digital technologies, this leader enables the factory to become increasingly autonomous, resilient, and productive while serving as the trusted face of the Smart Manufacturing organization at the site.

The Fab IT Manager is the senior Smart Manufacturing and IT leader for a single 300mm wafer fabrication facility. This role is accountable for partnering with factory leadership to deliver measurable business outcomes through technology, automation, and digital transformation.

The successful candidate serves as the primary interface between the fab and the Smart Manufacturing organization, leading a multidisciplinary team responsible for manufacturing IT solutions, equipment automation, AMHS orchestration, robotics, and factory systems. Success is measured by improvements in capacity, quality, productivity, factory availability, and adoption of digital solutions that enable increasingly autonomous manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

Factory Business Partnership

  • Serve as the trusted IT and Smart Manufacturing partner to the Fab Manager and factory leadership team.

  • Understand factory priorities and translate business needs into technology roadmaps and execution plans.

  • Drive measurable improvements in: Factory capacity, Equipment productivity, Cycle time, Yield and quality, Manufacturing cost, Factory availability

  • Act as the single point of accountability for Smart Manufacturing execution at the site.

Lead Site Smart Manufacturing Organization

  • Lead a cross-functional team of manufacturing IT engineers and domain experts supporting the fab.

  • Develop organizational capability, technical excellence, and operational discipline.

  • Foster close collaboration across global Smart Manufacturing domains to leverage common platforms and best practices.

  • Build a culture focused on customer partnership, ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Manufacturing Systems & Automation

Own the successful delivery and operational excellence of:

  • Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)

  • Equipment Automation (SECS/GEM, EDA, OPC-UA)

  • Tool integration and connectivity, Equipment scheduling interfaces, Manufacturing data collection

  • Factory dashboards and operational visibility

AMHS & Robotics

Provide site leadership for:

  • Automated Material Handling System (AMHS) orchestration, Material movement optimization

  • Robot integration and fleet coordination, Autonomous mobile robots (AMRs)

  • Emerging robotics solutions supporting manufacturing operations

  • Integration between factory systems, AMHS, robotics, and production workflows

Factory Reliability & Availability

  • Own operational health of manufacturing IT systems supporting the fab.

  • Drive high availability of production-critical systems.

  • Lead incident response and root cause analysis for factory-impacting events.

  • Improve system resiliency, monitoring, observability, and disaster recovery readiness.

  • Minimize downtime attributable to manufacturing IT systems.

Digital Transformation & Adoption

  • Champion adoption of new Smart Manufacturing capabilities across the fab.

  • Ensure deployed solutions deliver expected business value.

  • Monitor adoption metrics and continuously improve user experience.

  • Lead organizational change management for new technologies.

  • Identify opportunities to replace manual work with automation and AI-enabled solutions.

Program & Portfolio Management

  • Prioritize technology investments aligned with factory objectives.

  • Manage site delivery portfolio across multiple initiatives.

  • Coordinate execution with global product teams and external vendors.

  • Balance tactical operational needs with long-term strategic initiatives.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Build and develop a high-performing engineering organization.

  • Coach and mentor technical leaders and engineers.

  • Establish clear priorities and execution discipline.

  • Promote collaboration across manufacturing, engineering, facilities, and IT.

  • Drive operational excellence through metrics and accountability.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, manufacturing IT, automation, or smart manufacturing.

  • 5+ years leading engineering or manufacturing IT organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting high-volume semiconductor manufacturing operations.

  • Strong understanding of MES, equipment automation, and manufacturing systems.

  • Proven track record delivering complex cross-functional technology initiatives.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
