Full job description

Job Summary:

Performs computerized tomography (CT) examinations and general X-ray procedures as requested by referring physicians. Clearly explain procedures to patients prior to the exam to ensure their understanding and safety. Reviews images in PACS to confirm that appropriate images have been obtained and completes the end-to-end workflow to facilitate timely interpretation of studies. Accountable for traveling within a Zone and/or reasonable geographical area.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • 100% Travel

  • Welcomes the patient, verifies the imaging procedure to be conducted, explains the process thoroughly, and demonstrates sensitivity to any anxiety expressed by the patient.

  • Reviews the patients medical history before proceeding with performing x-ray and CT examinations, ensuring that the consent form for contrast media and required documents are signed.

  • Takes x-ray exposures of patient following protocol for intensity of radiation and time of exposure.

  • Positions the patient appropriately on the examination table and actively monitors their condition throughout the procedure.

  • Administers intravenous contrast material when indicated, under the direction of the radiologist.

  • Adjusts and manages CT protocols and equipment to ensure images adhere to established quality standards.

  • Maintains the equipment and examination room and sustains proper inventory levels of necessary supplies.

  • Accurately reviews patient information in Epic, confirming details such as patient name, date of CT exam, referring physician, and clinical indication.

  • Complies with modality end-to-end workflow requirements.

  • Performs other related duties as directed.

  • Requires 100% travel

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience to include on-the-job training and internships as a CT Technologist or registry eligible ARRT advanced certification in CT required

  • Per the National Agreement, current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived.

Education

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

  • Graduate of a certified/accredited ARRT program required.

  • Specialized training in computerized tomography required

License, Certification, Registration

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Computed Tomography within 12 months of hire

  • Radiologic Technologist Certification

  • Basic Life Support

  • Radiologic Technologist License (Virginia)

Additional Requirements:

  • Venipuncture competency checks off or must acquire competency check off w/in three (3) months of hire.

  • Current on CEUs w/ ARRT required.

  • Required to stand, push, pull & lift patients.

  • Position requires ability to concentrate on fine detail w/ constant interruption & attend to tasks for 20 to 45 minutes at a time.

  • Must be able to adjust routine to accommodate patient or department w/out affecting departmental flow.

  • In order to work effectively w/ patients, must have effective interpersonal skills & be able to stand, walk, bend, lift at least 50 pounds, hear, speak, & see.

  • May be required to lift objects heavier then 50 pounds, perform difficult manipulative skills & h&-eye coordination skills, walk & stand for prolonged periods, see objects closely & hear normal sounds w/ some background noises.

  • Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software.

  • Knowledge of customer focused service requirements of the organization.

  • Ability to communicate pleasantly & effectively w/ members & coworkers.

  • Demonstrates good oral & written communication skills.

  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience as a radiologic technologist preferred to include on-the-job training and internships
