Director, Demand Generation & Measurement

New York, NY, United States(Hybrid)

Job Description

American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) is the leading payments provider for businesses and corporations of all sizes. The Brand & Demand Strategy team is part of the Strategic Brand & Transformation team within GCS Marketing, and responsible for leading brand and creative strategies and maximizing upper and mid-funnel channels to drive incremental interest and consideration for our products and solutions.

The Director, Demand Generation & Measurement is responsible for building and scaling an integrated demand generation engine that attracts, engages, and advances audience across channels. This is an important and evolving area of focus, bringing together paid, owned, and earned channels to build a more strategic approach to generating demand and driving measurable business impact.

Specifically, this person will lead strategies to engage users with Amex products and services through targeted media; strengthen Amex visibility and relevance across traditional search and emerging AI-powered discovery; deepen engagement through our native digital content experience, Business Intel; and establish the measurement frameworks and KPIs needed to understand performance.

The Director will have the opportunity to lead work across multiple disciplines, shape emerging capabilities, and define how GCS approaches demand generation for Small Business and Corporate, in collaboration with upper- and lower-funnel teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead our content distribution strategy and build approaches that support both upper- and lower-funnel objectives through a connected, complimentary journey.

  • Drive audience growth and engagement through effective paid media campaigns while identifying new and breakthrough approaches to build, optimize, and activate high-value audiences.

  • Own and evolve our search and AI discovery strategy, increasing the visibility and relevance of our brand, content, and solutions by strategically developing content optimized for traditional search and LLM/AIO experiences.

  • Lead and continuously evolve Business Intel as GCS’s native digital content destination, creating a compelling, user-friendly experience that attracts priority audiences and deepens engagement.

  • Ensure measurement rigor and clear KPIs across all programs, defining success and delivering thoughtful performance analysis that informs future strategy.

  • Manage and lead a high-performing team of colleagues across distinct areas of expertise, while developing a clear, connected strategy and narrative across workstreams.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in digital, demand generation, and/or performance marketing, with a strong background in paid media, search, and/or digital experiences.

  • Ability to build strong relationships and influence across partners, bringing stakeholders together around a shared strategy and driving complex initiatives forward.

  • Critical thinker with the ability to translate data, audience insights, and performance signals into stronger marketing strategies and decisions. Strong storytelling skills with the ability to articulate the incremental value and business impact of programs.

  • Passion for innovation and continuous improvement, with curiosity about emerging shifts in media, search, AI-powered discovery, digital experiences, etc —and the ability to translate internal and external insights into actionable strategies.

  • Exceptional people leader who can motivate a high-performing team in an agile, evolving environment, connect diverse areas of expertise around a common vision, and actively invest in colleagues’ development and career growth.
