Summary

This vacancy is for a Regional Director position at the Department of Commerce, U.S. Census Bureau, Field Division, Denver Regional Office, located in Lakewood, CO. This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Regional Director, 0301-15, FPL None positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.

Duties

  • Planning, preparing, directing, managing, and supporting a large- scale program of field data collection operation, i.e. survey, census, etc.
  • Develop staff for succession planning including team building, and the maintenance of highly effective and efficient field workforce.
  • Implementing and managing of administrative rules, regulations, and policies for payroll and personnel for recruiting, hiring, retaining, and paying a large, decentralized field staff.
  • Planning, coordinating, deploying, and managing automated systems and property for field data collection.

To qualify for the position of Regional Director, at GS-0301-15, you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below. Specialized Experience: For the GS-15, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes managing or supervising a large group of employees that are geographically dispersed; planning and overseeing a nationwide or multi state household; setting priorities, establishing milestones and schedules, and identifying resources for projects or programs; overseeing a wide range of administrative operations and support services; preparing and presenting speeches to a variety of agencies and representatives to establish and maintain working relationships. Education: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.

How You Will Be Evaluated

Your qualifications will be evaluated based on your application materials (e.g., resume, supporting documents), your responses on the application questionnaire, and your responses to all assessments required for this position. The best qualified candidates will be identified for referral to the hiring manager and may be invited for an interview. Panel Review: You will be evaluated according to your responses to the online questionnaire and the use of a Panel Review. During the Panel Review, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) will review your resume to determine your qualifications for this position based on the required specialized experience and demonstration of competencies as described below. Upon completion of the panel review, candidates identified as best qualified will be referred to the hiring manager and may be invited for an interview.
