Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Water Conveyance Engineer to join one of our engineering and infrastructure clients. This individual will support the design, analysis, and execution of water and wastewater conveyance projects, with a strong focus on pipeline infrastructure. The Water Conveyance Engineer will work on force mains, gravity sewers, temporary bypass systems, and other water conveyance solutions while partnering closely with engineering, construction, and field teams. This role will support projects throughout the full lifecycle, from initial design and hydraulic analysis through construction and field support. This position requires approximately 20–30% travel to project sites.

Design and analyze water and wastewater conveyance infrastructure, including force mains, gravity sewers, and temporary bypass systems Perform hydraulic calculations and modeling to support pipeline design and system performance Develop engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports Support construction teams by responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, and helping resolve field issues Coordinate with internal engineering teams, construction personnel, clients, and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle Participate in constructability reviews and assist with construction sequencing and field planning Support temporary bypass and flow management planning Assist with value engineering, cost estimating, and project schedule considerations Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, codes, and municipal requirements Travel to project sites as needed to support design and construction activities

Skills and Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline Active Professional Engineer (PE) license 3+ years of experience designing or supporting water and wastewater conveyance systems Experience specifically working with pipeline/pipe infrastructure, including force mains, gravity sewers, and/or temporary bypass systems Strong understanding of hydraulic principles, hydraulic calculations/modeling, and pipe materials Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and hydraulic modeling software Working knowledge of industry standards and regulations including AWWA, ASTM, ASME, and local municipal requirements Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineering teams, construction teams, and clients Ability to travel approximately 20–30% to project sites Experience with pipeline rehabilitation methods such as CIPP, sliplining, and pipe bursting Experience with temporary bypass systems and flow management strategies Strong understanding of construction sequencing, constructability, and field operations Previous experience supporting pipeline projects through both the design and construction phases
