Job Description
Job Description/ Day to Day: The Data Center Networking Group is developing the Nexus 9000 product line of data center and cloud switches that feature application awareness to make the network infrastructure flexible and agile for dynamic response to application needs and virtual machine workload mobility.
As a Mechanical Engineer at Cisco Systems, you will be responsible for 3D modeling, 2D drawing creation, assembling switch prototypes in the lab, helping team to setup bench and chamber-based test environments, verifying the performance of mechanical components and materials, and delivering test reports to the team. You will play a hands-on role in establishing and supporting both liquid-cooling and air-cooling product. In this role, you will provide strong technical support to internal and external customers, team members, and cross-functional groups through effective project collaboration and execution.
Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Relevant industry, internship, project, or equivalent hands-on academic experience
- Strong 3D modeling /2D drawing experience on mechanical design tools, prefer CreO
- Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly
- Experience and working knowledge of PCB board placement
- Understanding of all mechanical material properties, mainly on sheet metal, plastic
- Fundamental understanding of reliability lab measurement equipment: EMC scan, ESD gun, shaking table, environment chamber, acoustic equipment.
- Self-motivated - candidate should enjoy leading and taking ownership of assigned projects, exhibit good written and verbal communication skills, and can work well in a diverse team environment.
