Duties

• Deliver pharmaceutical care to patients.
• Document direct patient care activities in the patient’s medical record or hospital computer system.
• Review drug interactions and medication overlaps found in the prescription dispensing process.
• Provide distributive services and pharmaceutical support to health care professionals within the Medical Group.
• Advise and provide counsel to lower level employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
• Provide professional guidance to staff on the proper procedures concerning the storing, issuing, and controlling of pharmaceutical items.
• Document and report adverse drug reactions or pharmacy errors through appropriate mechanisms.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the body of laws, regulations, policies, standards, procedures, methods, and techniques applicable to a broad range of patient care requirements relating to pharmacology.

Basic Requirement for Pharmacist: Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Qualification: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree, Ph.D., Pharm.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Exemption: You are exempt from the requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status. Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
