Software QA Engineer I

Job Description

Our client, a global manufacturer of industrial technology and automated equipment, is seeking a Software Quality Assurance Engineer I to support the testing and validation of software used to control robotic and electromechanical systems. This is a highly hands-on QA role combining software and hardware testing, with approximately 75% of the work performed directly on physical equipment. This individual will execute manual tests, troubleshoot software and hardware issues, validate developer fixes and new functionality, document results, and provide clear feedback to the development team. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on problem solving and is comfortable working directly with complex equipment in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Skills and Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in software quality assurance, software testing, systems testing, or a closely related technical role.
• Hands-on experience testing both software and physical hardware/equipment; candidates with exclusively web or application-based QA experience will not be a fit.
• Strong manual testing experience, including executing test cases/test plans and documenting test results and defects.
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills with the ability to reproduce issues, validate fixes, isolate problems, and communicate findings to software developers.
• Experience working directly with hardware such as robotics, electromechanical equipment, industrial automation, embedded systems, medical devices, or similar physical products.
• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related field
• Experience writing or modifying test cases and test plans in addition to executing existing tests.
• Experience reading or debugging C++ and/or C# code.
• Scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, Delphi, C#, or similar technologies.
• Experience testing robotics, automation equipment, or other complex electromechanical systems.
