Full job description

The Supply Chain Operations team plays a critical role in enabling the end-to-end supply chain ecosystem. We are responsible for managing key business processes and supporting the development and execution of capabilities that enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and Responsiveness. Our team is collaborative, data-driven, and focused on delivering value through continuous improvement and strategic planning.

Job Summary

As a Industrial Engineer , you will support the design and optimization of Target’s supply chain processes and facilities. You will apply process improvement and material flow design principles to enable efficient, safe, and scalable operations. Working closely with senior engineers and cross-functional partners, you will contribute to automation design, facility layout, and process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support process analysis to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.

  • Assist in creating process maps, layouts, and workflows to optimize material and product flow.

  • Collect and analyze data to define throughput, storage, and cycle time requirements.

  • Build basic models to simulate material flow and identify potential constraints.

  • Support evaluation of automation and robotics technologies by researching solution options.

  • Assist in preparing cost models for capital and operational expenses of design alternatives.

  • Draft technical documentation and assist in preparing RFPs with guidance from senior engineers.

  • Ensure process and design work comply with safety and operational standards.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (operations, facilities, vendors) to execute design solutions.

  • Provide documentation, reporting, and process tracking to sustain improvements.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s in industrial, Mechanical, Production, or Supply Chain Engineering. Masters preferred.

  • 1+ years in process design, automation engineering, or supply chain facility design.

  • Proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar). Exposure to simulation tools is a plus.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Excel proficiency required. SQL/Python a plus.

  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or process improvement concepts.

  • Good communication and collaboration skills, with willingness to learn vendor engagement
