Full job description

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Windows Engineer to support a large-scale modernization of the organization’s Windows server environment. This person will focus on engineering, upgrading, and standardizing Windows platforms rather than routine system administration.

The environment includes legacy Windows Server 2008 and 2012 systems, virtualization platforms, aging hardware, and workloads that may be migrated to AWS or repurposed from Linux to Windows. The ideal candidate will bring advanced Windows engineering, virtualization, and automation experience and be comfortable working within an environment where multiple infrastructure initiatives are moving simultaneously.

This is initially a six-month engagement with the potential for longer-term work supporting and administering the modernized environment.

The pay range for this role is $50-70hr depending on years of experience

Skills and Requirements

  • Advanced, hands-on Windows Server engineering experience.

  • Experience designing, building, upgrading, and modernizing Windows server environments.

  • Strong experience supporting legacy Windows Server operating systems.

  • Hands-on virtual machine and hypervisor experience.

  • Experience with VMware vSphere/vCenter, Nutanix, Hyper-V, or similar platforms.

  • Strong PowerShell scripting experience.

  • Experience creating Ansible playbooks and automation workflows.

  • Experience supporting server migrations, hardware refreshes, and infrastructure modernization.

  • Ability to work effectively in a complex environment with multiple moving initiatives. Willingness to support longer-term administration of the environment following the initial engineering and modernization work.

  • Experience migrating Windows workloads to AWS.

  • Experience evaluating or migrating between hypervisor platforms.

  • Experience with SCCM/Microsoft Configuration Manager.

  • Experience supporting Linux systems or moving Linux-based workloads to cloud environments. Knowledge of identity services, PKI/certificate services, disaster recovery, and infrastructure security.

We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. We are an equal employment opportunity/affirmative action employer that believes everyone matters. Qualified candidates will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, marital status, national origin, ancestry, genetic factors, age, disability, protected veteran status, military or uniformed service member status, or any other status or characteristic protected by applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances. If you need assistance and/or a reasonable accommodation due to a disability during the application or the recruiting process, please send a request to [email protected].
