Summary

About the Position: This position is located at the 87th Medical Group, Medical Treatment Facility McGuire, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

  • Assign specific codes to medical records, sequencing and determining codes to accurately reflect the resources and procedures used in the care of the patients.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and third-party insurance requirements in utilizing the ICD-10-CM, PCS, CPT and HCPCS Level II coding books.
  • Correlate operation codes with diagnosis codes to ensure the most descriptive code is selected when more than one anatomical location is involved.
  • Use specialized procedures and methods to correct and amend records.
  • Perform quantitative analysis and check medical records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and document any incident which may denote a potential compensatory event or questionable breach of qualify of care delivered.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Minimum Qualifications for GS-04: General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as coding medical records and utilizing various office automated systems and/or software. OR Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.
