Summary You will serve as a PAINTER in the Preservation Shop (Code 970), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900), of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will troubleshoot to prevent loss of product with short duration curing times. You will use pumps and spray equipment such as conventional, airless, air assisted airless, high volume low pressure, electrostatic, electrostatic powder, and plasma powder application. You will read, interpret and correctly follow complex written instructions, drawings, specifications, engineering standards, and manufactures' requirements. You will plan, organize, coordinate and implement numerous quality-related issues and elements as they relate to the requirements and documentation of critical coated areas. You will blast and produce a surface profile ready for coating and build up, fair, shape and level using a variety of knifing and troweling compounds. Experience performing accepted surface preparation, coating methods, and techniques such as mixing and application of modem exotic paints and coatings. Experience demonstrating skills to blast and produce a surface profile ready for coating. Experience applying knowledge of all accepted surface preparation, coating methods, and techniques such as mixing and application of modern exotic paints and coatings. Experience coating materials and matching tint and tone have required skill to apply paints at required mil thicknesses. Experience understanding trade terms and knowing trade measurements of critical coatings. Experience reading, interpreting, and correctly following complex instructions, drawing, specifications, engineering standard, and manufactures' requirements.
