Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Payroll Manager for a leading construction industry client supporting a large-scale, fast-paced organization. This individual will take ownership of a high-volume, weekly payroll operation, ensuring accurate and compliant processing across multiple states and complex pay structures. The ideal candidate brings a strong command of payroll operations—from taxation and reconciliation to audit and reporting—paired with hands-on Workday experience. This role will lead a growing payroll team, partner cross-functionally with accounting and compliance groups, and continuously improve payroll processes. We are looking for a confident, engaging leader who thrives in a deadline-driven environment and can maintain precision while operating at scale.
Day-to-Day:
- Manage and oversee weekly multi-state payroll processing for 3,000+ employees
- Ensure accurate processing of timesheets, earnings, deductions, taxes, and direct deposits
- Conduct thorough payroll audits, validations, and reconciliations
- Handle payroll corrections, off-cycle payments, tax adjustments, and manual entries
- Oversee payroll tax compliance, filings, and correspondence across jurisdictions
Skills and Requirements
- 8–10+ years of true end-to-end payroll experience (pure payroll, not HR/benefits-focused)
- Experience managing high-volume, weekly payroll processing for large organizations (~2,500–3,000+ employees)
- Proven experience with multi-state payroll including taxes, garnishments, deductions, and compliance
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations (FLSA, FICA, federal/state/local requirements)
- Hands-on experience with Workday payroll processing highly preferred (not just implementation/setup)
- Experience performing full-cycle payroll review, audits, reconciliations, and sign-offs
- 2-3 years' experience in direct management (Will oversee 2 payroll team members)
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment (weekly payroll cadence)
- Strong communication skills with a high-energy, engaging, professional presence
