Job Title: Utility Foreman

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Utility Foreman to join our team. The ideal candidate will oversee a crew of 2-5 members, operating various heavy civil machinery, and working on diverse projects including data centers, subdivisions, hospitals, roads, and apartment complexes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise grading crews to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality site preparation work.

  • Interpret site plans, blueprints, and grade stakes to establish accurate elevations and slopes.

  • Coordinate daily tasks, equipment needs, and workflow with project managers and site supervisors.

  • Perform layout, set grade, and verify accuracy using lasers, GPS systems, and other surveying tools.

  • Monitor progress to ensure work meets project specifications, timelines, and quality standards.

  • Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations.

  • Troubleshoot site issues, adjust plans as needed, and communicate changes to management and crew.

  • Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, equipment usage, and project milestones.

  • Train and mentor crew members to build skill, efficiency, and teamwork on the job site.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in operating heavy equipment such as Excavators, Dozers, and Loaders.

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in utility construction.

  • Leadership skills with the ability to manage crews and subcontractors.

  • Bilingual capabilities.

  • Experience in grading, erosion control, clearing, and construction.

  • Ability to read civil plans and use GPS grade control systems.

  • OSHA 30 certification.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge in utility construction, excavation, grading, and site development (5+ years).

  • Administrative skills.

  • CPR certification.

Work Environment

This is an on-site position working on a variety of commercial sites within a 35-mile radius. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm, on projects such as data centers and other commercial projects. You will typically work 50 hours per week.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Montpelier, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $36.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
