Overview
Department: Inpatient Rehabilitation- Occupational Therapy
Employment Type: Per Diem/PRN
Shifts Available: Days: Mon - Fri, one weekend day/month, and holiday rotation
Hours: 8-hour shift: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
Location: St. Joseph Medical Center - Kansas City, MO
We are seeking a compassionate Occupational Therapist (OT, OTR, OTR/L) to join our acute care hospital rehabilitation team. This role delivers occupational therapy services in an inpatient hospital setting, focusing on rehabilitation, functional mobility, activities of daily living (ADLs), safety, and patient independence.
The Occupational Therapist will treat adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including neurological conditions, orthopedic injuries, post‑surgical recovery, stroke, and general medical conditions. This position is ideal for candidates seeking hospital OT jobs, acute care occupational therapy, and rehab therapy careers. New graduates and experienced Occupational Therapists with licensure are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but is not limited to):

Evaluate and treat patients in an acute hospital setting to improve functional mobility, ADLs, safety, and independence

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for medically complex adult and geriatric patients

Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to support safe and timely discharge planning

Educate patients and caregivers on adaptive strategies and equipment use

Document evaluations, progress, and discharge recommendations in the electronic medical record
Qualifications
Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy

Current state Occupational Therapy certification/license
-
Current BLS (AHA) certificate
Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:
- National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, AOTA and OTAC
