Job Description

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the integrity of the parent company financial statements and completion of Form 990. Works in conjunction with operating personnel to complete monthly close process, annual budget process, and routine forecasts of parent company operations. Directs and mentors assigned accountants. Acts as a part of finance area's leadership in promoting teamwork and knowledge within and outside the department, developing policies and procedures and representing the area.

Key Accountabilities:

Identifies revenue enhancement/cost containment opportunities based on financial analysis and observation.

Member of department leadership to Finance/Accounting area: Communicates and shares information with others in department leadership that may assist in managing cash flow and overall budget of Norton Healthcare. Performs other duties as assigned in promoting teamwork philosophy of department and Norton Healthcare. Helps educate operational leaders regarding finance policies and procedures, tools provided to help manage budgets, and finance matters key to the operations of their areas of responsibilities. Displays appropriate knowledge and use of technology. Works internally and externally to resolve system problems that may be impacting areas of financial responsibility. Leverages technology for efficiencies and control purposes.

Provides proper supervision to staff under his/her direction: Reviews work of staff to ensure accuracy to area of responsibility. Provides proper guidance to ensure timeliness of work and ensures that deadlines are met. Develops, in conjunction with employee, professional development plan for staff to ensure they have the tools to complete assigned tasks and improve skill set. Provides regular feedback to assist in growth of staff.

Demonstrates appropriate ownership of financial reports, budgets, and other financial indicators for his/her area of responsibility: Responsible for the integrity and financial accuracy of the parent corporation financial statements (income statement and balance sheets) in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Success is demonstrated by the achievement of a clean financial statement audit with no or minor audit adjustments. Provides technical accounting and operating guidance related to the activities or strategies of the parent corporation. Leads the parent corporation annual budget process in conjunction with operating personnel by providing guidance and direction which support the fiscal goals of Norton Healthcare. Proactively manages operating budgets throughout the year by working with operating personnel as demonstrated by updating the financial forecasts throughout the year and communicating any areas of concern in a timely manner in order to be addressed appropriately.

Ensures major managed care reimbursement rules and regulations, construction/renovation projects are managed to budget and schedule or better.
