Summary
About the Position: This position is located at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
Duties
- Supervise Outpatient Coding, Inpatient Coding, inpatient medical records at MTF and Outpatient medical records.
- Review all record types for purpose of obtaining all data pertaining to previous reporting of chronic disease conditions, inter-service transfers, patient movement, nature of disposition, and retirement data.
- Revise coding guidelines and adhere to established coding completion dates with an accuracy rate of at least 95% by coding personnel.
- Execute monthly data quality and coding backlog reports for inpatient, emergency department, day surgery, and billable ambulatory encounters, ensuring data accuracy, coding compliance, and timely issue resolution.
- Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, to include establishment of priorities and preparation of schedules for completion of work.
- Make decisions on medico-legal matters regarding compliance and release of information issues

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing medical coding records for accuracy, assigning complex clinical codes to patient records, and training or supervising medical coders. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
