Job Description
Act as the global technical expert for cheddar and pasta filata cheese types, providing deep application knowledge on processes, cultures, coagulants, and ingredient functionality. Support customers in optimizing cheese production using dsm-firmenich cultures, enzymes, and ingredient solutions. Cooperate with our technical team to conduct application trials, troubleshooting, and performance evaluations in our laboratories as well as at customer sites. Translate customer needs and challenges into structured technical projects in collaboration with R&D, commercial teams, and marketing. Manage and coordinate portfolio of technical projects, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery. Deliver high-quality technical documentation, reports, and insights that support customer adoption and product positioning. Support technical sales with compelling data, demonstrations, and expert guidance. Lead the Cheese application ISOL team in the U.S., creating a high performing team. Act as first point of contact for application for the Cheese business (strategy and business development as well as innovation) driving the application activities to support new developments, value propositions, and implementation of new and existing products and concepts. Actively nurture the collaboration amongst the global cheese application team and local sales and technical sales team, developing joint concepts, leveraging overall know-how, and coordinating activities. Continuously ensure capabilities and skills are future proof. Responsible for the Quality, Environment, Safety, and Health (“QESH”) performance of the team including steering behavior and actively ensuring QESH implementation in work plans and in executing work in line with DSM-Firmenich guidelines. Requires monthly domestic travel within the United States and quarterly international travel. Role is currently a hybrid based out of Plainsboro, NJ headquarters but may eventually transition to fully remote. $159,977.22 per year. Standard company benefits.
Requires a Master’s degree in Food Technology, Dairy Science, or a closely related field and 3 years of food science experience in the cheese domain (or a Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Dairy Science, or a closely related field and 5 years of food science experience in the cheese domain). Must have experience with: cheddar and pasta filata cheese making including methods, ingredients, and production processes; technical sales; raw materials including milk, cheese cultures, and cheese enzymes; cheese technology; and project management.
