Kelly Engineering has partnered with a rapidly growing industry leader to recruit a Controls Engineer for a direct-hire opportunity in the Columbus, Ohio area.
The Controls Engineer will plan, design, and manage projects while supporting manufacturing processes across two facilities. This role will focus on maximizing operational efficiency through the development and improvement of equipment controls, workflows, production methods, and workforce utilization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop control system requirements, electrical schematics, enclosure layouts, BOMs, vendor quotes, and purchase requisitions for new and existing automation equipment.

Design electrical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical

Lead controls projects, coordinate vendors, and ensure safe, reliable, and efficient implementations.

Develop test protocols and perform system testing, validation, troubleshooting, and commissioning.

Program and troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs
-
Support pneumatic, continuous and batch process, servo motion, EtherNet/IP, Ignition, robotics, CNC, and mechanical press control systems.

Support plant-floor LAN networking and related computer systems.

Develop manufacturing processes, procedures, and employee training materials.

Drive Lean and continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

3+ years of experience as a Controls Engineer

Experience in electrical design
-
Ability to lead projects consisting of cross functional teams within the organization
