Heavy civil Superintendent
I.Position Overview
Superintendent is the company’s representative assigned the responsibility and authority for coordination and direction of the projects assigned, so it is safe, within budget, on schedule, build per drawings and specifications, and in compliance with the company’s quality standards and to the customer’s satisfaction. The superintendent manages and coordinates multiple projects such as roads, highways, sidewalks, and flatwork projects with an emphasis on concrete structures and pavement. This position directly supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws; may also engage in the same construction trades of work as the workers being supervised, if needed. The superintendent reports to the project team composed of the project manager, project coordinator, and field engineer.

Essential Functions of the Job

Ensure on-time completion of assigned projects, within budget and to the satisfaction of Precision 2000, Inc., and the clients.

Manage and coordinate multiple projects and crews at the same time.

Provide leadership and management skills in all aspects of the job.

Lead, organize train, direct and coordinate field construction teams including subcontractor’s direct hire work.

Obtain and analyze detailed contract specifications, drawings, scopes of work, labor requirements, materials requirements, and subcontractors' agreements, on a timely basis, prior to the commencement of construction.

Plan and schedule the execution of projects for optimal efficiency within the constraints imposed by the customers.

Schedule and coordinate subcontractors and Precision 2000, Inc. personnel to optimize effectiveness and expedite job completion.

Prepare a list of equipment needs to execute the projects assigned.

Ensure subcontractors and workers are provided with all project information needed to understand their individual assignments and work expectations for a project.

Prepare Daily Reports to the project team on-time and ensuring accuracy for each assigned project.

Obtain Purchase Orders/numbers from the project team before making any purchases; cost coding receipts and purchase orders accurately and attaching them to daily reports.

Analyze and understand the schedule of values of the projects assigned to report weekly billing quantity log.

Understand all restrictions and constraints of the projects to plan activities accordingly.

Verify the delivery of all materials for quantity and condition. Order materials and tools and plan supply allotment to avoid “crisis” buying.

Ensure damaged or partial deliveries are reported to both the vendor and Project Manager immediately and reordered.

Ensure that properly authorized change orders are obtained prior to the commencement of any out-of-scope work.

Perform daily inspections of work performed to assure quality control on the job sites.

Manage training for tradesmen.

Work with project inspectors to ensure specifications and details are within compliance.

Responsible for the correct use and preparation of minor tools, heavy equipment, company trucks, power tools.

Conduct Weekly toolbox meetings given by the Safety Manager

Conduct Pre-Task Planning (PTP) daily to share all hazards present while working at the job sites.

Attend and participate in Safety Training Program and enforce safety procedures including all other safety forms. (e.g. Daily trench log, Confined space entry, etc.)

Accurately assign cost coding to hourly entries for employees into P2K’s clock in/out software.

Ensure compliance with all environmental requirements for the projects assigned.

Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.

Ensure that all utility marking is completed before excavating in any project.

Other duties assigned by the project team.

Requirements

Occasional travel overnight - Travel may be required based on operational needs.

Valid Driver's license and Clear MVR record if needed to drive.
Working Conditions
This position is subject to outside environmental conditions to include extreme cold and hot temperatures according to the season. The worker is subject to the noise level in which shouting is necessary to communicate. The worker is exposed to a variety of physical conditions such as moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, and high places. This position is exposed to chemicals, fumes, odors, dust, mists, and gases. Requires extensive walking, carrying, dragging, holding, pulling, pushing, lifting, kneeling, bending, twisting body, walking, reaching, and squatting; may be required to lift 70 pounds or more. The employee must be flexible in the schedule to work nights and weekends and must have reliable transportation to the main office or job sites.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED
At least 3-4 years of prior Superintendent Experience in heavy civil construction projects such as roads, highways, sidewalks, and flatwork projects with an emphasis on concrete structures and pavement is required.
Must have experience managing various heavy civil construction projects.
