Employment Type: Full timeShift: Day Shift Description: Provides leadership, accountability and responsibility for the entire scope of Rehabilitation Services for Mercy Medical Center. Operational responsibilities include budgeting, strategic planning, patient care management and integration and achievement of organizational goals. Acts as a role model and change agent by initiating and accepting changes for improved patient care and cost reductions.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develops an annual operational plan (including scope of service) for Rehab Services, integrated with Mercy’s strategic plan and related departments’ operational plans in order to efficiently provide services.
  • Responsible for development, implementation and periodic review of all policies and procedures that guides and supports Rehab Services. These include, but are not limited to, Joint Commission requirements, federal and state regulations, regulatory standards, etc.
  • Develops and maintains departmental staffing plan for Rehab Services, detailing appropriate employee classifications and qualifications consistent with the department’s operational plan, projected volumes, patient acuity and other relevant indicators. Participates in human resource planning providing recommendations for staffing, proactive recruitment and long-term needs. Ensures compliance with staffing plan.
  • Responsible for ongoing assessment and improvement of the department’s performance based on, but not limited to, Rehab quality plan monitors and customer/employee satisfaction data.
  • Supervises assigned management staff. Provides necessary education, orientation and support to management team. Demonstrates effective leadership and delegation skills.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in physical, occupational, speech therapy or exercise science required.
  • Licensed in Iowa as a physical, occupational or speech therapist
  • Prior management experience required; 3 years management level experience in rehabilitation preferred.
