About Us

We are a mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP); building automation; and industrial piping contractor. Our team offers a variety of MEP and process piping services, including design-build engineering for new construction and renovation, installation and specialty construction, maintenance, and air balancing, start-up, and energy efficiency services.

Job Summary

DeBra-Kuempel is seeking to fill a Piping Estimator position. The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, takeoffs, and proposals for electrical construction projects. This role collaborates with clients, contractors, vendors, and project teams to develop competitive bids and support successful project execution. The ideal candidate has strong electrical estimating experience, construction industry knowledge, and the ability to produce design-build, budget, and conceptual estimates.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future products.

  • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.

  • Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.

  • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.

  • Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.

  • Attend walk-throughs, pre-bid and scope clarification meetings

  • Prepare scope letters and proposals

  • Review contract and bid documents; review and understand scope for project turnover

  • Assist project managers with takeoffs and pricing changes in work Complete quantitative take-offs and computer entry

  • Maintain strong relationships with customers, General Contractors, vendors and subcontractors

  • Coordinate the efforts of junior and staff-level resources in performing take-offs, issuing bills of material to vendors and obtaining subcontractor quotes

  • Ensure documents are centrally saved in the company’s drive within the confidential estimating folder(s)

  • Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Division Manager with recommendation for resolution.

  • Perform additional assignments as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.

  • Bachelor of Science in or Master of Science in engineering or construction related field preferred.

  • 5+ years of estimation and project management experience in the electrical construction industry.

  • Ability to perform design/build, conceptual and budget estimates

  • Knowledge of the construction industry and contract documentation.

  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and city regulations and guidelines.

  • Must demonstrateproficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel)

  • Familiarity with electrical, technical, or construction programs.

  • Familiarity with project management/document control software.

  • Familiarity with construction/financial software packages.

The noise level in the field work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Compensation Range: $80,000-$120,000
