Job Summary and Qualifications
Manages expectations of the department and surgeons to include :

Provides a safe environment for the surgical patient during the perioperative experience
-
Utilizes the principles of aseptic technique in creating and maintaining the sterile field
-
Plans and provides equipment and supplies based on patient and physician needs
-
Demonstrates competency in assisting surgeon as it relates to unit scope of care
-
Provides assistance and education to the scrub if unfamiliar with procedure or surgeon preference
-
Promotes cost containment while delivering quality patient care within the operating room
Serves as a professional member of the surgical team :
-
Pursues own professional growth and development through continuing education, seminars and in-services
-
Always treats physicians and patients as customers, being mindful of time and place for airing complaints or issues
-
Maintain positive attitude and professional demeanor with surgeons, staff, patients and the management team
-
Demonstrates flexibility by working with OR management and surgical team to cover call and staffing needs
-
Assists the staff with room preparation, turnover, and stocking of rooms and carts
-
Exercises sound judgment and decision making skills on behalf of patient, self and peers
-
Adheres to hospital policies and procedures; supports the mission of the hospital
-
Demonstrates flexibility to perform other functions within Surgical Services to assist in the smooth operation of the department.

Compliant in completion of mandatory annual educational requirements
-
Maintain all active licenses/certifications as required by law to practice profession
What qualifications you will need:
EDUCATION
Required –
High School Graduate or GED.
Graduate of an approved CORT program, or RN, or LPN, or Certified Surgical Assistant Program.
Certification in training as a Surgical Assistant or RNFA if hired after 12/31/2018
Preferred - Certification in training as a Surgical Assistant or RNFA if employed prior to 2019
BLS Certification – required at time of hire
EXPERIENCE
Required - Minimum of three years of operating room scrubbing experience.
Preferred -One year experience as a Surgical Assistant.
