About Us

We are a full-service mechanical HVAC, plumbing, and specialty piping contractor that offers design and construction services for a variety of markets. Our customers include commercial, medical, and technology, as well as municipalities and government agencies.

Job Summary

The Payroll Specialistis responsible forprocessing payroll accurately andtimelywhile ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This positionmaintainspayroll records, processes employee changes, answers payroll-related questions, and supports audits, reporting, and benefits administration activities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Includethefollowing.Otherdutieswilllikelybeassigned.

  • Process weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly payroll for all employees.

  • Review and verify employee time records, pay rates, deductions, and payroll adjustments.

  • Maintainaccuratepayroll records and employee data.

  • Process new hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, and pay changes within the payroll system.

  • Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and company policies.

  • Prepare payroll reports and reconcile payroll records.

  • Coordinate payroll tax filings andassistwith year-end activities, including W-2 processing.

  • Respond to employee inquiriesregardingpay, deductions, taxes, and leave balances.

  • Administer garnishments, child support orders, and other required deductions.

  • Assistwith audits and provide payroll documentation as requested.

  • Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information.

  • Support Human Resources withbenefitsadministration and employee record maintenance as needed.

Qualifications

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience.

  • Experience with payroll software and HRIS systems preferred.

  • Construction industry payroll experience preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Strong understanding of payroll practices and employment tax regulations.

  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of customers, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors and suppliers, and other contractor organizations.
