Job Description: Insight Global is seeking a Geotechnical Testing & Inspections Group Manager for a leading engineering consulting client. This individual will serve as the operational and technical leader of a growing geotechnical and construction materials testing practice in the Raleigh market. The ideal candidate will combine strong geotechnical engineering expertise with proven people leadership and business development capabilities. Responsibilities include overseeing project execution, reviewing and sealing engineering reports, managing profitability, leading and developing technical staff, and expanding client relationships throughout the region. This role is ideal for a highly motivated, entrepreneurial professional looking to take ownership of a growing business unit, build a high-performing team, and establish themselves as a market leader within the geotechnical and CMT industry. Day-to-Day:

  • Oversee 6-10 active geotechnical, CMT, and inspection projects
  • Review engineering reports and technical deliverables
  • Stamp and seal engineering documents
  • Provide technical expertise and project guidance
  • Manage project execution, scheduling, and profitability
  • Lead and develop project managers, inspectors, and field staff
  • Recruit, hire, and grow the Raleigh team
  • Build a strong team culture and employee development program
  • Maintain existing client relationships
  • Generate new business opportunities and revenue growth
  • Represent the organization in client meetings and industry networking events Drive strategic growth of the geotechnical and testing practice

Skills and Requirements

Must-Haves:

  • PE (Professional Engineer) license required

  • Ability to obtain North Carolina PE reciprocity within 6 months

  • Strong geotechnical engineering background

  • Geotechnical project management experience

  • Construction Materials Testing (CMT) experience

  • Testing & inspection experience

  • Experience reviewing reports and engineering documents

  • Ability to stamp/seal engineering documents

  • Leadership experience managing technical teams

  • Business development/client relationship management experience

  • Experience overseeing project profitability and operations Strong communication and people leadership skills Plusses:

  • Existing Raleigh market relationships

  • Strong network with NCDOT, developers, contractors, and consulting firms

  • Previous experience leading a business unit or department

  • NC State alumni or previous Raleigh market experience

  • Experience recruiting and building technical teams

  • Background with firms such as Nova Engineering, Terracon, ECS Southeast, Summit Engineering, ATC, GeoEngineers, WSP, AECOM, Gannett Fleming, or Kleinfelder Entrepreneurial and growth-minded leadership style
