Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) - Placerville, CA

Contract Position | 2026-2027 School Year

We are seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping students achieve social, academic, emotional, and functional success in the educational setting.

Position Overview

The Teacher of the Visually Impaired develops and implements individualized instructional programs designed to meet the unique needs of students with visual impairments. This role focuses on fostering independence, academic growth, and life skills while collaborating with educators, families, and support staff.

Assignment Details

  • Location: Placerville, CA

  • Position: Teacher of the Visually Impaired

  • Schedule: 36

  • Contract Length: 36 weeks

  • Start Date: August 25, 2026

  • Setting: School-Based

  • Caseload: 1:1 Assignment

  • Client Interview: Required

  • Behavioral Support Level: Low

  • Medical Support Level: Level 1

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university preferred

  • Valid state teaching certification as required by state regulations

  • Previous experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired preferred

  • Current CPR certification, if applicable

  • TB Questionnaire, PPD, or Chest X-Ray, if applicable

  • Current health certificate, if required by state regulations

  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Compensation

  • Local Pay Rate: Up to $90/hour*

*Compensation is based on experience, credentials, and applicable licensure.

The Teacher for the Visually Impaired provides students with appropriate learning experiences and activities designed to help them in social, intellectual, and emotional growth. The Teacher for the Visually Impaired organizes and implements an instructional program for visually impaired students.

Enables students to develop competencies and skills to function in a successful and positive manner.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred
