Job Summary:
The Building Automation Systems (BAS) Technician is responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting building automation and control systems. This role supports the performance and efficiency of HVAC, lighting, and other integrated building systems by diagnosing issues, performing system testing and calibration, and providing exceptional customer service. The BAS Technician works closely with customers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure systems operate reliably, efficiently, and according to project specifications.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Install and commission building automation systems, sensors, controllers, and other related equipment in new or retrofit projects
Perform regular inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting of BAS, including HVAC systems, lighting controls, and security systems
Calibrate and test systems for performance, ensuring optimal operation and energy efficiency
Provide exceptional customer service, including training building operators and end-users on system functionality and troubleshooting
Maintain accurate records of all service calls, repairs, and installations. Provide detailed reports to management and clients as needed
Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment at all times
Address client concerns by diagnosing and resolving issues with building systems in a timely and professional manner
Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe work practices, and prompt reporting of hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Minimum Requirements:
3-5 years of experience in building automation, HVAC, electrical, or a related field preferred
Knowledge of building automation systems (e.g., Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Trane) and controls systems. Experience with BACnet, Modbus, and other communication protocols is a plus.
HVAC, electrical, or BAS certifications preferred but not required
Excellent troubleshooting skills with a strong attention to detail
Ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and team members
Physical Requirements:
Ability to carry and lift heavy equipment (up to 100 pounds)
Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching required
Ability to work in varying environments, including indoor and outdoor conditions, exposure to seasonal temperatures, and moderate to high noise levels in mechanical rooms, construction sites, and active work areas.
Comfortable working in tight spaces, on ladders, and at elevated heights when needed
Manual dexterity required for use of tools and equipment
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety procedures
Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods during a typical workday
Visual and auditory ability to safely perform job duties and communicate effectively in the field
