District 58 – Unit 170 – Franklin Parish JOB NUMBER: 58/128431/ET1-4/09.22.2026-JB The overall function of this position is to be responsible for assisting a professional engineer and/or higher level engineering technicians in the performance of drafting, design, and survey work. The incumbent will use engineering-related software programs to plot and draft complex engineering or survey drawings. They will also prepare contract proposals and contract documents. On-the-job training is provided. Knowledge of basic computer software is required. An ideal candidate will possess the following competencies: Developing Plans: The ability to create structured strategies and plans that support the achievement of defined goals and objectives. Thinking Critically: The ability to analyze information objectively, identify connections across sources, and form logical, well-supported conclusions. Using Data: The ability to collect, analyze, and use data to generate insights and inform decisions.Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR

• Assist professional engineer in drafting, design, or survey work.

• Utilize a thorough knowledge and understanding of Department procedures, policies, standards, and specifications in the drafting or designing of construction plans.

• Apply DOTD engineering policies and procedures to normal work situation in the District Design Office and/or in the field.

• Use CADD and other engineering-related software programs to complete engineering drawings and/or survey.

• Prepare contract proposals and contract documents for more complex projects let at the District level.

Appointment Type: This position may be filled as probational, job appointment, detail to special duty, voluntary demotion, or promotion. Career Progression: This Position may be filled as an Engineering Technician 1, 2, 3, or 4 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant. Compensation:

• Engineering Technician 1 -$14.00/hour with an additional $2.00 premium pay for every hour worked.
• Engineering Technician 2 -$16.03/hour with an additional $2.00 premium pay for every hour worked.
• Engineering Technician 3 -$18.35/hour with an additional $2.00 premium pay for every hour worked.
• Engineering Technician 4 -$21.00/hour with an additional $2.00 premium pay for every hour worked.
