Work Listing:

  1. Communicates with physicians and other medical personnel

  2. Be the patient’s pharmaceutical advocate

  3. Recommend alternative pharmaceutical therapy and nutritional supplements when appropriate

  4. Performs final check on all prescriptions

  5. Counsels patients on the appropriate use of their medications on every new prescription

  6. Teaches patients on the appropriate use of medical devices

  7. Assist other personnel with third party formulary challenges and prior-authorizations

  8. Schedule staffing for optimal coverage

  9. Responsible for yearly evaluations of their store personnel

  10. Advises and trains staff on DEA regulations and laws concerning all handling of controlled substances and documentation.

  11. Advises customers in the store or over the phone relating to their over-the-counter products, nutritional supplements, medical devices and prescription needs

  12. Advises technicians on pharmacy operations according to pharmacy law

  13. On a daily basis:

a. Conducts all complete medication reviews as requested by patients and by insurances in OutcomesMTM

b. Works with Pharmacy Technician Staff to complete Targeted Intervention Program claims in OutcomesMTM

c. Works with Pharmacy Technician Staff to work the Equipp and Humana/Equipp outliers to attain our performance goals. Utilize spreadsheets to evaluate patient compliance.

  1. Log into the Pharmacy System to check patient messages, respond to assignments, make sure MedSync is performed and kept current at all times.

  2. Conduct community classes or marketing functions as necessary to promote your professional reputation and Poole’s Pharmacy Care

  3. Follow pharmacy procedure to administer immunizations

  4. Oversees ordering, storage and dispensing of prescription drugs with emphasis on following all laws and regulations. Utilize our secondary wholesalers to help with shorts and finding better deals on drugs that we’re losing on reimbursement.

  5. Overseeing personnel to ensure the proper opening and secure closing of facilities, the secure and proper handling of the money and daily receipts, the daily reports performed, daily computer backup performed.

  6. Maintain customer and prescriber awareness of unique products & services, especially prescription compounding and durable medical equipment.

  7. Provide input and assistance with the pharmacy inventory control with diligent attention to appropriate and responsible product replenishment and turnover. Practice just in time ordering for MedSync.

  8. Provide input and assistance to any and all members of the organization toward the achievement of the pharmacy’s customer satisfaction and profitability goals.

  9. Foster an environment of team success and positive super culture.

  10. Provide Clinical Pharmacy Services to patients in various areas, including therapeutic drug monitoring, nutritional support, point of care testing, medication therapy management, and immunizations.

  11. Display competency with SOAP note documentation for the support of medical billing using PioneerRx to document eCare plans.

  12. Assign, educate, train and supervise the work of support personnel including staff pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, clerks, interns, and students.

  13. Monitor Third Party and customer accounts receivable.

  14. Complete all necessary compliance requirements each year and adhere to HIPAA and FWA guidelines pertaining to patients and business information.

  15. Maintain and oversee all the systemic processes put in place by the company (as written in the Employee Handbook). Suggest improvements & note concerns in all vital areas of the business.

  16. Orchestrate through planning and time management all the responsibilities within this position and handle unexpected situations, changes, deadlines, and goals while maintaining a harmonious work atmosphere.

  17. Know and understand what it takes for a patient driven business to be profitable. Be able to grow the business and clinical services by implementing strategies as directed by the owner.

  18. Increase sales and average order size by means of suggestive-selling through education such as nutrient depletion and consultation in addition to offering unique or promotional sale items.

  19. Inform management of any pricing issues or potential sale/marketing leads that could enhance profitability.

  20. Communicate to patients in a timely manner all issues regarding their prescription - keeping them updated on status to manage expectations of patient. Inform them of issues with their prescriptions to prevent extra trips to the pharmacy.

  21. Ensure all prescriptions are filled accurately and legally

  22. Ensure all communications are confidential, courteous, professional and timely

  23. Ensure the patient’s satisfaction with the services rendered within the scope of our economic, ethical and legal parameters

  24. Aspire to practice at the top of your education and license.

  25. Be conscious of concentrating efforts on work or functions that only a pharmacist is able to perform, minimizing time spent doing work that other personnel should and could be doing. Use sound judgement in delegating duties to each employee to make your job easier and improving the workflow of the pharmacy. Always be willing to help out whenever required to meet the customer’s needs but return, when possible, back to the functions that only a pharmacist can perform.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other related duties as assigned such as adhering to new required laws and regulations or providing new clinical services to our patients.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

*Able to stand and sit for long periods of time as well as being able to bend, squat and reach.

*Able to lift and carry a minimum of 30 pounds and exhibit manual dexterity to perform job duties.
