Description:

The Program Coordinator will provide management for the day-to-day programming activities and will serve as the primary administrative point of contact for the program. The Program Coordinator will work with Center of Excellence for Social Justice’ ( CESJ ) students, partners, staff, and other university constituents. The position will be responsible for fostering a sense of pride and support for the Center, and for helping the CESJ achieve its mission and goals.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit:

The Center of Excellence for Social Justice draws upon the interdisciplinary academic and historical resources of North Carolina A&T State University to support in-depth academic examination of topics such as race, economics, higher education, civil rights, public policy and related areas of study. Through research and academic inquiry, the center examines how these subjects have shaped the development of the United States and continue to influence contemporary society.

The Center manages The Power of Four Fellowship Program, which focuses on selecting four freshman students each year, providing them with the resources and support to scale up national and global social equality projects during their four years at A&T; the Social Justice Scholar-in-Residence program, which will bring exemplary activists who champion issues on campus; and the Youth in Action Prize, which will exemplify the legacy and tradition of activism among young people.

Additionally, the center provides Building Bridges Roundtable, which will provide local community members with the opportunity to create a stronger opportunity by gathering university student, faculty and staff. Host an annual Truth and Transformation Conference.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or and equivalent combination of training and experience.

All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred:

Master’s Degree from a four-year college or university in education, humanities, student affairs, social work, sociology or related field.

Two years of professional’s experience as program coordinator in a student services area or in related field.

Successful implementation of programs for different student population, and evidence of successful college-wide collaborations.
