Full job description

Join our Fastening Systems team! Howmet Aerospace has an exciting opportunity for a Production Engineer in our Fullerton, CA location. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, you will design, build, and validate tooling for cold ‑ stamping stainless ‑ steel (A286) parts, ensuring high ‑ quality production and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and validate tooling for cold ‑ stamping stainless ‑ steel (A286) parts.

  • Run process ‑ control studies to set optimal machine parameters and create standard procedures.

  • Use AutoCAD/SolidWorks to produce tooling drawings, BOMs, and technical specs.

  • Analyze part progressions with simulation (e.g., DEFORM) and adjust designs.

  • Work with tool ‑ room machinists to prototype, test, and refine tooling.

  • Monitor operations, enforce quality & safety standards, and resolve work ‑ in ‑ process issues.

  • Working hours may exceed a 40-hour week as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related field).

  • 1–3 years of manufacturing/tooling design experience in aerospace, automotive, medical, or related high ‑ volume manufacturing environments.

  • SolidWorks (or comparable CAD) proficiency.

  • Experience with ERP systems (Syteline, Oracle, QAD) and Microsoft Office.

  • Strong GD&T, blueprint reading, and inspection skills.

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Tool ‑ room machine experience (lathes, mills, screw machines).

  • Background in metal ‑ forming industry.

  • Lean manufacturing knowledge and a track record of measurable improvements.

The salary range for this position is $ 110,000 to $130,000.

Compensation and Benefits:

If a pay range is identified for this job, it is based on a good faith estimate at the time of this posting. Actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as education, experience, skillset, market/business considerations, and/or location.
