Full job description

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a High Voltage (HV) Superintendent – Self-Perform Installation & Commissioning, you will lead Siemens Energy field crews executing the safe, high-quality installation, testing, and commissioning of substation and transmission projects. Your day will involve developing work plans, coordinating craft labor, troubleshooting technical issues, and working hands-on with your team when needed. You will collaborate closely with project management, engineering, and commissioning teams while ensuring EHS, quality, and schedule requirements are met. Projects may include greenfield substations, brownfield upgrades, and transmission expansions from 115kV through 765kV, with extensive travel across North America.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Lead in-house crews in the installation, assembly, wiring, testing, and commissioning of high voltage equipment, including GIS, AIS, transformers, and protection & control systems from 115kV to 765kV.

  • Develop daily work plans, allocate resources, and supervise craft labor to meet safety, productivity, quality, and schedule requirements.

  • Perform hands-on installation and testing activities alongside your team when needed, ensuring work is completed accurately and efficiently.

  • Coordinate with project management, engineering, and commissioning teams to align field execution with technical requirements, project schedules, and customer expectations.

  • Promote and enforce Siemens Energy EHS standards while maintaining accurate records of installation progress, test results, redlines, field changes, and project turnover documentation.

  • Support commissioning activities, including functional checks, energization, final testing, and turnover, while mentoring and developing crew members.

What You Bring

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related technical field is preferred.

  • Minimum 5+ years of direct field experience in high voltage substation construction and commissioning , including leadership of craft labor.

  • Strong technical knowledge of HV systems, installation practices, and applicable industry standards, including IEEE, NETA, NEC, and NESC.

  • Hands-on experience with primary and secondary systems, protection & control wiring, testing procedures, construction drawings, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and test plans.

  • Excellent leadership, planning, communication, troubleshooting, and field execution skills, with the ability to work independently in fast-paced environments.

  • Willingness to travel extensively to project sites across North America; valid driver's license and ability to obtain required site access clearances. NETA, OSHA 30, or other relevant certifications are a plus.
