Job Summary:

Complementary Distribution

Caterpillar complementary distribution is business line with purpose to deliver RETAIL diesel and gas gensets (recip) up to 200 kVA to USA market. Complementary distribution leverage on independent distribution network, working directly with customers and contractors to increase Caterpillar market participation in USA.

About Complementary Distribution - Territory Manager

We are currently searching for a Complementary Distribution - Territory Manager in the Upper Midwest & Tennessee Territory. The Territory Manager is solely responsible for sales and business development of gas and diesel gensets up to 200 kVA in the assigned territory. The Territory Manager reports directly to the Commercial Director of complementary distribution business line.

What you will do:

  • Business development in the Upper Midwest & Tennessee Territory.

  • Direct interaction with customers related to technical clarification, contract negotiation, financials and overall opportunity management (in collaboration with technical organization of business line).

  • Development of new channel partners in the Upper Midwest & Tennessee Territory.

  • Pipeline generation

  • Participation in selected conferences in tight collaboration with complementary distribution - marketing team.

  • Overall representation of complementary distribution business line in assigned territory.

  • Weekly update of CRM

What you will have:

  • Customer Focus: Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

  • Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any technical or business field or strong relevant equivalent experience.

  • Master’s degree will be considered advantage.

  • 3 + years sales or business development experience.

  • Knowledge of commercial/industrial gas and diesel generator market & technology.

  • Experience in similar role will be considered advantage.

  • This position is located within the territory of the role from their home office in Wisconsin; Michigan; Indiana; Illinois; West Virginia; Washington, DC; Pennsylvania; or Tennessee.

  • Travel up to 75% is required.

  • Domestic relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
