About the Position: About the Position: Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong CA, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. The depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center. Employees work Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Youth Facilities and childcare available. Mass transportation is available at minimal cost. Surrounding area boasts a full range of outdoor sports/recreation activities.
Duties
- Assist Journeyman level Painting Worker, Welder and Mobile Equipment Mechanic with daily task such Maintain adequate supply, materials and equipment associated work materials on hand in accordance with work guidance from shop floor supervisor.
- Operate forklifts to move, load or unload, transfer and transport, stack and unstack palletized and non-palletized material, equipment, and components from one location to another.
- Restock shop supplies to maintain efficiency.
- Perform routine drivers maintenance to ensure peak operating condition.
- Mark hazardous containers to ensure safety regulations are met.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. This announcement is a Direct Hire solicitation. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Laborer (Forklift Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties such as logging supplies for floor availability, stacking materials to support daily operations and maneuvering forklifts through confined spaces to transport materials. I can perform routine drivers' maintenance to ensure peak operating conditions. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Frequently lift and move equipment, tools, components, or material weighing up to 45 pounds and may be required to lift and carry, with assistance, items weighing up to 90 pounds. Perform work on hard surfaces in areas that require frequent standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Working Conditions: Work is performed in areas varying from well lighted, heated, and ventilated to outside, unprotected areas, including areas that are drafty and poorly lighted. The work is sometimes dusty, dirty, and greasy. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises. May be exposed to noxious fumes, skin irritants, and flammable chemicals. In certain work situations involving hazardous materials, may be required to wear protective clothing and respirators, and other specialized protective devices, in addition to their basic protective equipment (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses and shoes, and ear plugs).
