Summary

This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION), Position Description Number D2489P01 and is part of the NJ JFHQ G6, National Guard. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

Duties

As a IT SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION), GS-2210-11, you will: Manages all assigned servers and server resources, analyzing and defining requirements; analyzing workload; monitoring capacity and performance; diagnosing and resolving problems; and developing backup and recovery procedures. Installs, configures, and maintains servers and server resources in support of business processing requirements and ensures that servers are tested for stability. Resolves inquiries and problems concerning access, use, and availability of datacenter technologies. Provides technical assistance to current and potential users to minimize disruptions of computer operations. Provides formal or informal training so users understand the relationships of the system and are able to work with the system without undue interruption. Maintains liaison with counterparts at other commands/installations for troubleshooting assistance and researching available products and state-of-the-art technologies and advancements. Develops strategies to incorporate into the organization's inventory such technologies and advancements found to be compatible with user requirements, taking into consideration any affect these technologies and techniques will have on existing architecture and infrastructure. Leads and coordinates IT projects from initiation through deployment, defining technical requirements, establishing milestones, and collaborating with other teams Use Powershell to manage, configure, troubleshoot and automate processes as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements

Military Unit -- The unit by which the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee; or a unit that the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee to support. (Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1) . Qualifications

CAT 4, Individuals eligible for membership in the New Jersey Army National Guard GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of the following: Data processing functions and general management principles that enable understanding of stages required to automate a work process. Worked as a computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or positions that require use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. GS-11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training in the following: Adapting guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion. Approach techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls.
