Job Title: Embedded Software EngineerJob Description

We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to support the design and development of motor control electronics throughout all stages of the product development lifecycle. This role involves participating in the design of motor control electronics for a range of products, performing design analysis, and ensuring quality and performance through testing and certification.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development activities of motor control electronics through all stages of the product development life cycle.

  • Participate in designing motor control electronics ranging from low voltage DC products to 120/240Vac line powered products and including 480Vac industrial products.

  • Write design specifications, perform design analysis and simulations, capture circuit schematics, and participate in design reviews.

  • Guide the PCB layout process and create Bills of Materials (BOMs) and assembly drawings.

  • Oversee prototype, engineering validation, design verification, and agency certification phases of projects.

  • Participate in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing, and certification of software.

  • Implement OEM-specific hardware or software feature requirements in existing and new products.

  • Create and maintain project documentation, including design requirements, BOMs, test procedures, drawings, software documentation, test reports, and manuals.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing to introduce designs into production on schedule, including creation of test specifications and collaboration on test equipment.

  • Work with PCB designers to ensure schematic, part library, component placement, and trace routing are done correctly.

  • Collaborate with software, mechanical, motor design, and application groups to optimize product designs for low cost and high quality.

  • Support the quality group in failure analysis and recommend design and process changes to improve product quality.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in firmware development, Embedded C, and RTOS.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.

  • Master of Science in Electronic Engineering is desirable.

  • Experience in power electronics products such as inverters, DC-DC converters, and switching power supplies.

  • Working knowledge in the design of conditioning and sensing circuitry for adjustable speed drives.

Work Environment

The role involves working with a dynamic team of engineers in a collaborative environment. You will engage with various groups including software, mechanical, motor design, and application groups to ensure the delivery of high-quality products. The position requires attention to detail and the ability to meet production schedules effectively.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Eden Prairie, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
