Then read on… Working in our Data Division At Open Cosmos, our Data division transforms satellite data into meaningful insights that drive real-world impact. The team delivers all data products generated by Open Cosmos and its partners, curates and develops DataCosmos (our geospatial data platform) and builds integrations that make satellite imagery easy to access and act on. We are now looking for a Backend Engineer to join the DataCosmos team at Open Cosmos. You’ll play a key role in building and scaling the platform that powers the delivery of satellite data to customers around the world. What will you be doing?

  • Designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend services and APIs

  • Developing clean, reliable code in Go and/or Python

  • Improving platform performance, scalability, observability, and reliability

  • Working with cloud-native technologies including Docker and Kubernetes

  • Contributing to CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, and infrastructure improvements

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver technical solutions for real-world space missions

  • Supporting production systems and driving continuous improvement across the platform

What You’ll bring

  • Strong backend engineering experience with Go, Python, or similar languages

  • Experience with APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and scalable architectures

  • Good understanding of databases such as PostgreSQL and data modelling principles

  • Familiarity with cloud environments, containerisation, and DevOps practices

  • A proactive, ownership-driven mindset with strong problem-solving skills

  • A collaborative approach and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced scaling environment

  • Passion for technology and a genuine motivation to contribute to making space accessible and impactful
