POSITION OVERVIEW

The Additive Manufacturing Engineer II develops and improves manufacturing methods while supporting prototype development and low-volume production. This role is responsible for executing engineering projects from concept through finished prototype, including process planning, additive manufacturing, rapid tool design and fabrication, post-processing, painting, assembly support, and manufacturing documentation.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Independently prepare and optimize print files, selecting appropriate materials and print parameters.

  • Develop consistent post-processing workflows.

  • Optimize paint preparation and application techniques, improving cosmetic quality and repeatability.

  • Develop and update manufacturing work instructions to improve process efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Troubleshoot printing issues and improve machine utilization.

  • Support equipment qualification and preventive maintenance including qualifications of new materials and equipment.

  • Perform advanced finishing operations and prepare printed components for finishing and assembly

  • Inspect parts for visible defects and dimensional conformance.

  • Work directly with Design Engineering and Prototype teams to coordinate prototype builds, develop recommendations for process improvements, and support prototype objectives and manufacturability.

  • Design, fabricate, and validate rapid tooling used for prototype manufacturing, assembly, forming, bonding, fixturing, and testing applications.

  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education and technical experience.

  • 3+ years of technical experience in additive manufacturing or similar role.

  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in electronic or electromechanical systems.

  • Working knowledge of engineering documentation methodologies and tools, CAD models, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and prototype or production builds.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

WHAT WILL HELP

  • Experience with CAD software and engineering drawings.

  • Knowledge and experience with surface preparation on various materials to painting and finishing.
