Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Principal Engineer, Application Engineering for a top enterprise software client. This individual will join a small, highly collaborative Scrum team supporting a strategic enterprise engagement and will take end-to-end ownership of complex product features within an equity-management SaaS platform. The ideal candidate is a deeply hands-on full-stack engineer with extensive experience across C#/.NET, Angular, Oracle, and Azure who can quickly translate requirements into thoughtful engineering designs and production-ready solutions. This is a 100% individual-contributor opportunity for someone who thrives in a high-ownership environment, communicates effectively with both technical teams and client stakeholders, and uses AI-enabled development tools to improve delivery speed and code quality.

Day-to-Day

  • Serve as a hands-on individual contributor within a small application-development Scrum team
  • Own assigned features from initial requirements through design, coding, testing, and release
  • Create Engineering Design Documents for assigned features
  • Write and review production-quality code across C#/.NET, AngularJS/Angular, and Oracle
  • Build new features and enhance existing functionality within the Certent Equity Management platform
  • Coordinate with the Lead Engineer and teammates on cross-feature and cross-service impacts
  • Resolve technical ambiguity and surface risks, blockers, and scope concerns early
  • Participate in sprint planning, refinement, daily standups, demonstrations, and retrospectives
  • Maintain strong standards for unit testing, code review, release readiness, and definition of done
  • Use Claude Code and other AI-enabled development practices as part of the daily engineering workflow
  • Work toward organizational targets of at least 50% AI-authored pull requests and 95% AI-assisted code-review adoption
  • Help move the team toward full Spec-Driven Development
  • Engage client stakeholders during requirements clarification, design reviews, demonstrations, feedback discussions, and issue resolution
  • Investigate underlying business needs and recommend scalable platform solutions instead of one-off client customizations
  • Partner with Product Management and the Lead Engineer to define, scope, and sequence work
  • Coordinate with matrixed QA engineers on test coverage, quality gates, and release readiness
  • Collaborate with Solution Architects, Lead Engineers, and Principal Engineers on technical standards and cross-team decisions

Skills and Requirements

  • 8 to 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in enterprise SaaS environments

  • Prior experience operating at the Principal, Staff, or Lead Engineer level

  • Deep full-stack expertise with C#, .NET Framework and/or .NET Core, AngularJS/Angular, and Oracle

  • Experience with Angular 15+, including Reactive Forms, RxJS, Angular Material, and TypeScript

  • Strong working knowledge of Domain-Driven Design, including domain model layering across application, service, and data-access tiers

  • Experience implementing CQRS patterns in multi-service architectures

  • Oracle database and PL/SQL experience, including packages, procedures, views, and query optimization

  • Experience with Entity Framework Core and the Oracle EF Core provider

  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure technologies and Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines

  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted or agentic development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Devin.AI, or comparable platforms

  • Demonstrated ability to independently own feature delivery from requirements and engineering design through implementation and release

  • Strong engineering-quality practices, including unit testing, disciplined code reviews, CI/CD hygiene, release readiness, and definition-of-done standards

  • Experience with testing frameworks such as xUnit, NUnit, Jasmine, and/or Karma

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work directly with client stakeholders

  • Experience collaborating within globally distributed teams across multiple time zones Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience

  • Experience in financial services, equity compensation, or another regulated industry

  • Experience creating Engineering Design Documents

  • Familiarity with Spec-Driven Development

  • Track record of increasing engineering velocity or code quality through AI-enabled workflows Experience developing enterprise-scale SaaS products for strategic clients
