What is the People Operations Generalist role?

As our People Operations Generalist, you'll be the operational backbone of the People team, ensuring employees have an outstanding experience from onboarding through offboarding. You'll partner across the business to execute people programs, improve processes, maintain compliance, and support the day-to-day operations that keep a high-growth organization running smoothly.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Own employee lifecycle administration including onboarding, offboarding, job changes, promotions, and organizational updates.

  • Maintain employee records and ensure data integrity across HR systems.

  • Manage HR documentation, employee files, and process documentation.

  • Support new hire orientation and ensure a seamless onboarding experience.

  • Respond to employee questions regarding policies, benefits, payroll, and HR processes.

  • Administer HRIS and other People systems, ensuring accurate employee data.

  • Generate regular and ad hoc reports for leadership.

  • Audit HR data and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.

  • Assist with HR technology implementations and enhancements.

  • Support benefits enrollment, qualifying life events, and open enrollment.

  • Partner with external vendors to resolve employee benefit questions.

  • Coordinate leave administration, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation, and state leave programs.

  • Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.

  • Maintain I-9 compliance, personnel files, and required employment documentation.

  • Assist with audits, reporting requirements, and policy updates.

  • Support background check, employment verification, and credentialing processes as needed.

  • Help coordinate employee engagement initiatives and recognition programs.

  • Assist with performance review cycles and talent programs.

  • Support internal communications and People team projects.

  • Continuously look for opportunities to improve the employee experience.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field is required

  • 3–5 years of Human Resources or People Operations experience is required

  • Experience supporting a fast-paced startup or high-growth company.

  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.

  • Experience administering HRIS platforms (Rippling, BambooHR, Workday, ADP, UKG, or similar).

  • Advanced proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.

  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
