Job Description
International Flavors and Fragrances, Inc. seeks Senior Flavorist in Dayton, NJ, to develop flavor solutions including flavor duplications, new creations, and flavor modifications across a broad range of flavor profiles, product end uses and regulatory & legal requirements to meet customer and internal project requests. Serve as the flavor expert during the transfer of flavor formulas from benchtop to successful production by applying in depth understanding of flavor manufacturing processes and operations to ensure successful product scale-up and troubleshooting of flavor formulations. Interpretation of analytical data to successfully create new and innovative flavors solutions to meet client brief requirements. Develop and apply appropriate testing methods to access the stability of flavor materials and compositions through processing and application. Support Sales & Marketing objectives through interacting/visiting with target customers in support of existing and new business growth opportunities, including onsite/offsite working sessions with client to develop flavor solutions. Participate in internal and external training and seminars to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers to gain their trust and respect. Drive the investigation and discovery of new flavoring molecules, ingredients and technologies to continue to drive the creation of new and innovative solutions to customer and industry challenges. Serve as an expert in flavor creation, including progressive flavor development experience and utilize advanced organoleptic skills and sensory language to develop sensory consumer preferred flavors. Successfully represent the organization on important project teams, major committees, task forces, or other critical roles at the request of the Technical Director.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Food Science, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field and ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or related occupation: serving as an expert in flavor creation, including progressive flavor development experience; utilizing advanced organoleptic skills and sensory language; working with flavor analytical methods including Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), Gas Chromatography-Olfactometry (GC-O), and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), including interpreting and analyzing the resulting data to support flavor development and quality control; managing projects by defining and assessing requirements, designing and managing experiments, and effectively communicating and presenting results; working within global regulatory frameworks including FEMA, IOFI, FDA, USDA, MERCOSUR, JECFA, and GMPs to ensure compliance across international markets; and performing raw material management, including harmonization of global creation palettes, ingredient optimization, and cost-efficiency improvements. Employer will accept 2 years of related work experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
