Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer / Lead Engineer to serve as a senior technical leader and subject matter expert for leading electrical engineering activities on large and complex industrial and power generation projects.
This role provides technical oversight, client engagement, project leadership, mentoring of engineering staff, and contributes to business development initiatives while ensuring the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions that meet project objectives, industry standards, and client expectations.
The job responsibilities for the position will include but are not limited to:

Extensive experience with 34.5KV and 15KV Medium Voltage and Low Voltage power distribution systems, Electrical system studies (load flow, short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash)

Understanding of ETAP, SKM, Easypower, or equivalent software, Substation and switchgear design, and Motor control centers (MCCs), VFDs, and large motor applications

Knowledge in Emergency and standby power systems, Area classification and hazardous location design, Grounding, lightning protection, and cathodic protection interface considerations, and Electrical specifications, datasheets, and procurement support

Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA 70E, NESC, IEEE Standards, API, ISA, PIP, and industrial facility standards

Serve as Lead Electrical Engineer on large and complex projects.

Plan, schedule, and monitor discipline work.
-
Manage budget, scope, and project deliverables.
-
Review and approve design packages produced by junior engineers.
-
Interface directly with clients, vendors, and construction teams.
-
Lead design reviews, E-HAZOPs, and project meetings.
-
Participate in proposal preparation and scope development.
-
Support business development activities and client relationship management.
-
Identify opportunities for additional work with existing clients.
-
Assist in developing strategic growth initiatives for the I&G business.

Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers.
-
Perform technical reviews and quality checks.
-
Assist with recruiting and interviewing candidates.
-
Support resource planning and workforce development initiatives.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
-
BA/BS in Electrical Engineering + 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
-
Professional Engineer (PE) license
-
Relevant industry experience in industrial, power generation, oil & gas, chemicals, LNG, terminals, or heavy industrial facilities
-
Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering projects
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering
-
15 years of professional experience in Oil and Gas, Power Gen, or heavy industrial projects
-
HV Experience on voltage levels up to 138KV
-
Multiple state PE registrations
-
Experience with EPC projects
-
SCADA and Power Management System integration
-
Field experience including commissioning and startup support
-
Existing relationships with major industrial clients and equipment suppliers

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $180000 to $210000.
