Summary
About the Position: Position located at Ireland Army Health Clinic (IAHC) Pharmacy and Binter Street Pharmacy, Fort Knox, KY. Standard duty hours are Monday through Friday, 0800-1630 (closed on weekends and all Federal holidays). Registration as a certified pharmacy technician is preferred not required. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
Duties
- Receive and review prescriptions to determine the correct substance, dosage, and quantity to be dispensed.
- Enter prescription information into a computer system, checking patient profiles for allergies and drug interactions.
- Filing prescriptions by obtaining the correct pharmaceutical, preparing labels, and verifying the medication against the order.
- Provide instructions to patients on the proper use of their medications and refer complex questions to a pharmacist.
- Work alongside other technicians and pharmacists to ensure efficient patient care and customer service.
Qualifications
Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized experience: One year specialized experience such as filling prescriptions, distributing pharmaceuticals, and utilizing pharmacy based computer systems gained in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, or in pharmaceutical firms or laboratories. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-05. OR Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below: Education: One half year (9 semester hours) of graduate-level education in Pharmacology or a related field of study, from an accredited college or university. OR Combination of Experience and Education Substitution: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
