Job Title: Forklift Operator Job Description
This role is a hands-on warehouse position in a food distribution facility, operating a forklift to accurately pull and prepare items for customer orders while supporting overall shipping, receiving, and material handling activities.
Responsibilities

Operate a forklift safely and efficiently to pull items for customer orders in a busy food distribution warehouse.

Use RF scanners to locate, pick, and confirm products according to order requirements.

Accurately select and assemble orders, ensuring correct quantities, product types, and labeling.

Perform general material handling tasks, including moving, staging, and organizing pallets and product.

Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including loading and unloading trucks and verifying incoming and outgoing shipments.

Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area, following all warehouse safety procedures and guidelines.

Work collaboratively with warehouse team members to meet productivity and accuracy goals.

Complete assigned tasks from the start of the shift until orders are finished for the day.
Essential Skills

Proven experience operating a forklift in a warehouse or distribution environment.

Hands-on experience using RF scanners for picking and inventory tasks.

Background in order selecting and picking orders in a fast-paced setting.

Experience with shipping and receiving processes in a warehouse.

Strong material handling skills, including loading, unloading, and moving pallets and product.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and maintain high accuracy in order selection.

Capability to work an afternoon/evening shift until all orders are completed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Prior experience in a food distribution or similar warehouse environment.

Familiarity with basic warehouse documentation related to shipping and receiving.

Comfort working with handheld RF scanning devices and basic warehouse technology.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and product integrity.

Work Environment
The role is based in a food distribution warehouse environment, working among pallets, racking, and material handling equipment. You will primarily operate a forklift and use RF scanners and other standard warehouse tools. The schedule runs from approximately 5:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. or until all orders are completed, with limited overtime. The setting is active and fast-paced, with a focus on safe handling of food products and maintaining clean, organized work areas. Appropriate warehouse attire and safety gear are required to perform the role comfortably and safely.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Prince George, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
