Full job description

Sabanto is a venture-backed, Illinois-based technology company on a mission to drive autonomy into agriculture.

We believe the agriculture industry's lack of labor will drive the adoption of Farming-as-a-Service companies using autonomous equipment. It's this very spirit that drives us to build a robotic machinery platform, delivering a service that brings unprecedented efficiency, productivity, and cost to farmers. Join our fast-growing, industrious, and passionate team of innovators as we continue to disrupt the multi-billion-dollar agriculture industry.

As a Full Stack Engineer at Sabanto, you will be building the web and api platform that powers the orchestration of vehicle configuration, data pipeline processing and the interfaces that our customers use day-to-day when operating their vehicles.

RESPONSIBILITIES & OUTCOMES

  • Maintain and extend the cloud path planning engine — coverage paths, headland generation, turn optimization, and safe traversals — for autonomous agricultural robots operating in the field

  • Diagnose and resolve issues seen by customers related to field coverage in complex, real-world field geometries (holes, waterways, irrigation systems)

  • Build and harden geospatial data pipelines that move field and equipment data through transformations, optimization, and output

  • Design, build, and operate Python-based AWS Lambda services across the platform, from spec through deployment

  • Write tested, hardened, and safe code — unit tests, integration tests against real field data, and visual validation before every change ships

  • Own the build and deployment lifecycle for serverless cloud services

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's in computer science or a related field

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with comfort reasoning about geometry and spatial data

  • An entrepreneurial attitude with a keen eye for detail

  • Organized, disciplined, and can manage multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Industrious – ideally can drive, or willing to learn to drive, tractors, and anything with four wheels

  • Ag-gnostic – can walk up to a farmer, talk the talk, walk the walk, i.e. not intimidated

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Mastery of Python, including writing production-grade, well-tested services

  • Experience with geospatial and computational geometry libraries (Shapely, GeoPandas, PyProj, or similar)

  • 3+ years building cloud-native services on Amazon Web Services (AWS) — including Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, API Gateway, and ECS

  • Experience working with Docker-based software and build pipelines

  • Familiarity with optimization techniques or operations research (e.g. OR-Tools, vehicle routing problems) a plus

  • Familiarity with robotics or vehicle kinematics (e.g. Dubins/Reeds-Shepp paths, turning-radius constraints) a plus

  • Familiarity with NodeJS/TypeScript and SQL/NoSQL database engines a plus, for cross-team collaboration

BENEFITS

At Sabanto, every member of our team moves the needle. With a firm footing in our core company values, we've built a fast-paced, demanding work culture that allows for the flexibility, autonomy, and career opportunities you'd expect from a growing company. We offer competitive benefits including:

  • Working on a concept that will forever disrupt the agriculture industry

  • The chance to make an immediate impact and do the best work of your life

  • Unlimited Vacation and flexible time

  • 401k, medical, dental

We are not able to sponsor work visas at this time.
