Occupational Therapists provide many wide-ranging services to help patients improve their ability to perform normal activities of daily living. Whether from a physical injury, stroke, cognitive differences, surgery or general aging, your work as an OT helps maximize their confidence in performing self-care, working and managing life responsibilities.

A caregiver in this position will work 40 hours per week in 8-hour shifts, with start times of either 7:30am to 4:00pm or 8:00am to 4:30pm. Shifts may occasionally extend beyond 8 hours based on operational needs. Weekend coverage will be required one weekend per month, with caregivers working both Saturday and Sunday. This position will also include holiday coverage requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Evaluate and treat patients with physical, emotional, cognitive and/or psychosocial deficits which impact their abilities to successfully perform independent living skills.

• Assess patient's ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills and design the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.

• Implement the treatment plan using appropriate modalities and document subjective and objective findings of patient progress.

• Educate the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.

• Direct and supervise the activities of support personnel.

• Act aa a clinical instructor or participate in the education and evaluation of students.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor's Degree

• Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association

• Current Ohio licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT)

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Experience in a clinical area and acute care

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to walk without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling.

• Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor.

• Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.

• Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse.

• Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors.

• Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families.

• Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum Annual Salary: $69,600.00

Maximum Annual Salary: $106,132.50
