Job Description

Insight Global is currently seeking an Estimator / Project Manager to join a client in the commercial construction industry. This individual will support the growth of the Charlotte operations by leading both preconstruction and project execution efforts focused on acoustical ceilings, specialty ceilings, wall panels, and related interior systems. Responsibilities include preparing quantity takeoffs, developing estimates, soliciting vendor pricing, assembling bid packages, and managing awarded projects through completion. The Estimator / Project Manager will oversee budgets, schedules, procurement, change orders, contract administration, and ongoing client communication while coordinating closely with field teams, superintendents, contractors, architects, and suppliers. This person will conduct site visits, review submittals and shop drawings, track project costs, and proactively resolve field issues to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. The ideal candidate is a collaborative builder who values long-term relationships, cultural fit, and sustainable branch growth through strong local customer partnerships rather than purely pursuing large marquee projects. We are seeking someone who can grow within the organization, contribute to the expansion of its Raleigh and Charlotte presence, and help broaden interior construction opportunities over time.

Skills and Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of estimating and/or project management experience in commercial construction
  • Experience with acoustical ceiling systems, specialty ceilings, ceiling grids, wall panels, and related interior systems
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, reflected ceiling plans (RCPs), specifications, and construction documents
  • Experience performing quantity takeoffs, cost estimating, bid preparation, and project budgeting
  • Experience managing schedules, subcontractors, procurement activities, and customer relationships
  • Knowledge of change orders, contract administration, and project cost controls
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, PlanGrid, OnCenter, QuickBid, BuzzBid, or similar estimating software
  • Ability to perform jobsite walks and coordinate with field operations teams
  • Interest in long-term growth and career development within a team-oriented organization
  • Existing relationships within the Charlotte commercial construction markets
  • Experience with Armstrong, USG, CertainTeed, Rockfon, Hunter Douglas, or similar manufacturers
  • Experience with drywall, metal stud framing, acoustical wall panels, and specialty ceiling systems
  • Experience supporting branch growth, market expansion, or developing customer relationships in a local territory
  • Experience with healthcare, education, government, or large commercial projects
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field Ability to support both ceiling and selective drywall opportunities based on customer demand
